‘RSS influence there even in courts’: MA Baby

Kozhikode: CPI(M) general secretary M.A. Baby has alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has established growing influence across key institutions of the Indian state, including the judiciary and investigative agencies, and said that his party is experiencing the consequences of such influence.

Speaking at the expanded state committee meeting of the CPI(M) in Kozhikode, Baby said the RSS was steadily strengthening its presence in critical positions within the administrative system. He described the organisation as having a fascist character and alleged that the BJP functions under its control.

Baby raised particular concerns about the judiciary, claiming that the RSS has acquired considerable influence even within the courts. He referred to recent judicial observations that, in his view, occasionally create the impression that the judiciary is resisting such influence, but argued that the broader institutional situation remains troubling.

He also alleged that the armed forces and investigative agencies are facing RSS infiltration, with the latter having direct consequences for the CPI(M) leadership in Kerala. He said the party must operate with greater caution and vigilance in such circumstances.

Baby also linked the issue to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging that the exercise could result in large-scale voter deletions. He cited concerns about the voting eligibility of actor Prakash Raj and instances in West Bengal in which election-duty officials were reportedly absent from the electoral rolls.

According to Baby, these developments were interconnected and being pursued with a specific objective. He urged the party to recognise where it had gone wrong, correct itself from a pro-people perspective, and remain alert to what he described as the RSS's growing institutional influence.
