Roll from Malegaon shows Marvel Comics villain 'Thanos' as voter

New Delhi: Among the cloudburst of irregularities revealed in the voting lists by Rahul Gandhi and his party, the Congress, the latest has been stranger, problematic and more outlandish than previous.

A video has surfaced on social media in which a voter's roll from Maharashtra’s Malegaon could be seen displayed on a large screen for scrutiny, and among the voters was one Muhammed Ebrahim with a photo of Marvel Comics villain Thanos. Also, Rahul Gandhi, who stood strong in revealing irregularities in the voters' list in some past elections, including the Lok Sabha polls in 2024, shared the video captioning “New voter unlocked for BJP”.

The video, if what is shown in it is not doctored or fabricated, shows the serious issue of manipulating the voters' list. The video showed a mismatched name, incorrect age, and an incomplete address. This raises serious questions about how such an error made its way into the official voters list, particularly the face of Thanos as a photo, which never looked human.

The video has created a storm on social media.

Meanwhile, former Malegaon MLA Asif Shaikh Rashid has alleged that over 6,000 voters were registered without addresses, 3,502 ID cards had tampered photos, and 11,298 double votes had been registered in his constituency, MSN reported.

Congress accused the BJP of manipulating the voters' list to turn the poll results in their favour. When  Rahul repeatedly pointed out discrepancies in the poll process itself, the Election Commission (EC) of India rejected the allegation. The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha detailed duplicate entries, invalid addresses, bulk registrations, and a case of a voter registered twice, while his party alleged voter data manipulation in 48 LS seats. The EC continued to reject allegations.
