Republic Day 2026: items prohibited for spectators at Kartavya Path parade

As preparations gather pace for the Republic Day Parade on January 26, 2026, authorities have issued a list of items that spectators will not be allowed to carry to Kartavya Path in New Delhi.

Republic Day is among India’s most important national occasions and is marked across the country with flag hoisting ceremonies in schools, colleges, and workplaces.

The annual parade at Kartavya Path remains the main attraction of the celebrations, drawing large crowds who come to witness the display of military strength, cultural diversity, and national pride.

Special arrangements have been made this year to ensure smooth crowd movement and heightened security at the venue. Officials have stressed that strict checks will be carried out at all entry points, and visitors are advised to follow the guidelines to avoid inconvenience.

Spectators will not be permitted to carry sharp or pointed objects such as knives, scissors, blades, or nail clippers.

Cigarettes, bidis, gutkha, tobacco products, and liquor bottles are also prohibited. Lighters, matchboxes, and other flammable materials will not be allowed inside the parade area.

Large bags and backpacks are barred, and food and beverages are generally not permitted. The use of drones, professional cameras, and recording equipment is also restricted.

Authorities have advised ticket holders to carefully read the instructions printed on the back of their tickets, as security rules can change slightly each year.

Visitors are urged to carry only essential items, arrive early, and cooperate with security personnel to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience at the Republic Day Parade.
