Kota: In a major policy shift for the education sector, Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar on Monday announced that both government and private school students across the state will now wear a common uniform, with ties no longer being a part of it.
Speaking at Kota University, Dilawar said the move aims to promote equality and discipline among students. “In the future, we will also decide a uniform for teachers. Teachers will have ID cards, and identity cards will be mandatory for all students,” he added.
The minister also announced that the academic session will begin from April 1 instead of July 1, ensuring students receive textbooks on time and have sufficient time to study during the summer holidays.
Dilawar further revealed a new attendance system linked with the national anthem and national song. “Employees will be marked present only if they attend the national anthem and national song. The offices of my three departments — Panchayati Raj, Education, and Sanskrit — will open with the national anthem and close with the national song,” he said.
Additionally, parents will soon receive real-time attendance updates through the Shala Darpan portal. “Parents should know whether their children have reached school or not. If a student is absent, a message will be sent to the registered mobile number,” he explained, adding that preparations for the system are complete.
Officials said the state government believes that introducing a common uniform and stricter attendance norms will help foster discipline, equality, and transparency in schools. The Education Department will also consult school managements to ensure a smooth rollout of the reforms.
With the revised academic calendar, officials added, the number of teaching days is expected to increase, improving overall learning outcomes across Rajasthan.
