New Delhi: Now, diabetes patients, children, and health-conscious passengers travelling on prepaid trains where catering costs are already included in passenger prices can make use of a newly developed menu that will assist them in selecting the proper food.
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has been charged with customising and taking into account the most recent menu. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has been permitted to modify the menu to meet the preferences of the passengers, the Ministry of Railways announced on Tuesday, NIE reported.
"Now, baby food, diabetic-conscious food and food for other health-conscious passengers will be available. As part of this move, the IRCTC will also serve regional cuisines, seasonal delicacies, and festival-time food items in addition to foods for diabetic passengers, infants and other health-conscious people on journey. There will also be millet-based local products for passengers on trains," said a senior railway official.
As of now, the IRCTC must obtain the Railway Board's approval before introducing the menus, which are primarily made up of standard food and drink products.
IRCTC is required by the Ministry of Railway to assure high-quality cuisine and forgo the usage of subpar brands. Every day, the Indian Railway runs roughly 3,240 express and mail trains.
