Priyanka Gandhi criticises centre over farmers' issues

Congress General Secretory Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed Modi Government's take on farmer's protest asking him to stop emphasising only on 'one country, one election' and implement 'one country, one behaviour' also.

She made her comments on her official Twitter account a day after Modi advocated 'one nation, one election' system and a single voter's list, saying polls taking place every few months hinders development.

"To suppress the voice of farmers- they are being drenched in water, roads are being dug up to stop them. But the government is not ready to show them and tell them where it is written that they have the legal right of MSP. The Prime Minister, who is concerned about one country, one election, should implement one nation, one behaviour," read the Congress leader's tweet (roughly translated from Hindi).

She has also posted videos of water cannons being used against the protesting farmers, the dugged up roads and the barricades for stopping them from moving forward.

On Friday, the Delhi police have used tear gas shells and water cannons against them to stop them from entering the national capital.

Farmers are protesting against the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Service Act, 2020, and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.

Punjab farmers consisting 30 farm bodies announced that they will march to Delhi through several routes including Lalru, Shambhu, Patiala-Pehowa, Patran-Khanauri, Moonak-Tohana, Ratia-Fatehabad and Talwandi-Sirsa. They also said that they will also hold Dharna wherever they are stopped.

Farmers have assembled near the borders in tractor-trolleys laden with rations and essentials for their proposed Delhi march.

The farmers are demanding to revoke new farm laws and replace it with another set of legislation after consultations with stakeholders. They also want a guarantee on the minimum support prices.
