Pregnant college student arrested for marrying a minor student in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Two cases of sexual violence against minors were reported in Tamil Nadu Wednesday.

In the first incident, police arrested a 20-year-old pregnant college student for allegedly marrying a minor student, according to NDTV. 

The teenage boy from Salem district went missing in April and police later found him to be living with a senor woman student.

Police started probe after his parents filed a petition to bring him to the court.

Salem City Commissioner of Police Najmul Hoda reportedly said that the girls was sent to judicial custody following a medical examination.

Alongside, the woman is now facing charges under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The second incident reportedly closely later has a 17-year-old boy in police custody after a 16-year-old girl in Cuddalore district of the state.

Police took note of the incident from a video him putting mangalsutra or wedding necklace on a girl at a bus stand.

A case was registered under the POCSO Act as well as taking the boy to an observation home.

The police reportedly said that boy allegedly had sexual relations with the girl.
