Possess proof of bribe against 14 MLAs, 4 Ministers: Karnataka contractor

Bengaluru: A top unionist of Karnataka’s construction contractors on Thursday revealed more about corruption involving ruling lawmakers in the state’s developmental projects.

R Manjunath, working president of the Karnataka State Contractors Association(KSCA), claimed today to be possessing proof of corruption against 15 ruling MLAs and four ministers.

The union leader asserted that he would release the evidences if the payments for completed works were not made by the Karnataka government, according to The News Minute.

Earlier KSCA alleged that officials, legislators and ministers in Karnataka demand 40% bribe for all government contracts.

Hours ago on Wednesday, an audio clip of conversation between Manjunath and Chitradurga MLA GH Thippareddy emerged leaving hints about corruption happening in government contracts.

Meanwhile, thousands of members of the contractors’ association protested in Bengaluru against the state government.

R Manjunath further claimed to be possessing documents to prove that bribes were given.

“But after the death of Santosh Patil, people were reluctant to come forth with proof of corruption. The minister in question was not even arrested. What does this show,” he reportedly added.

Santosh Patil, who had accused former minister KS Eshwarappa of demanding bribes to clear pending bills, was found dead in a hotel room in April 2022, the report said.

Manjunath has revealed that he has audio clips, WhatsApp chats, and other documents to prove that the MLA demanded bribe.

He claimed that the bill for the PWD office he had built in 2019 has not been settled yet.

So is the case of bill for construction of the division office in Chitradurga and he paid over 5 percent bribe as well, the report said.
