PM Modi says no need to remember the candidate, Vote for lotus

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged people to simply vote for lotus without the need to remember candidates. He said every vote for lotus will "come directly to Modi's account as a blessing."

He has linked every vote for lotus and BJP to himself speaking to people of poll-bound Himachal Pradesh. The PM was speaking at a public rally in Solan. He asked: "If Modi is in Delhi, shouldn't Modi be strengthened here as well?"

He further said: "And remember, who is the BJP candidate? You don't have to remember anyone. Simply remember the lotus. I have come to you with the lotus. If you see 'kamal ka phool' while casting your vote, understand that this is the BJP, this is Modi who has come to you. Your every vote for 'kamal ka phool' will come directly to Modi's account as a blessing."

He also described the BJP government at the Centre as a "stable" one and added that his administration has been fighting against corruption. He added that it has been fighting those who work against national unity and ensured peace in the Northeast.

The Prime Minister also criticised the Congress and said several vested interests under the previous Congress governments. They did not want stability in the country. He alleged that Congress did not want stable governments in smaller states for their own interests. "Congress means instability, Congress means corruption, Congress means selfishness and Congress means nepotism," said the PM.

"These selfish groups used to worry about themselves whenever they would come to power. They indulged in conspiracies to break society and the unity of the county. You should be aware of their dangerous ways," he added.

He continued his attack on the rival party and accused Congress of betraying the dreams of youngsters and farmers. Speaking about the stability BJP offers, he said: "Small states faced the impact of the instability but now they have learned. Take the case of Uttarakhand and Goa. Now even Uttar Pradesh has returned the BJP government to power. Stable governments are responsible and accountable. They do development work. Alternative governments do not work hard, because they are always under the impression that they will go out of power after one term. So, you should vote for a stable government."
