PM calls for speedy access of vaccine to citizens

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed on ensuring easy access of vaccines to citizens in consideration with geographical span and diversity of the country. Meeting on COVID-19 pandemic situation and vaccine delivery, distribution and administration chaired by Prime Minister observed a steady decline in the daily cases and growth rate for the past 3 weeks. Focusing on developing an effective vaccine against COVID-19 Indian scientists have collaborated with research capacities of neighbouring countries, including Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. "We should not limit our efforts to our immediate neighbourhood but also reach out to the entire world in providing vaccines, medicines and IT platforms for vaccine delivery system" Prime Minister advised.

National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for COVID-19 (NEGVAC) has prepared a detailed blueprint of vaccine storage, distribution and administration after consulting with state government and relevant stakeholders. Prime minister called for formulation of vaccine delivery system in the model of election conduction, with the involvement of state machinery, civil organizations, volunteers, citizens and experts from all necessary domain.

Two pan-India studies conducted by ICMR and Department of Bio-Technology suggested the genetic stability of the virus and assured no major mutation in the virus. Prime minister insisted on continuing social distancing, appropriate behaviour such as wearing a mask and regular hand wash.
