Dublin: Ireland has discontinued the AstraZeneca vaccine following a report by the Norwegian Medicine Agency of fatal side effects. Several people who have been vaccinated have blood clots, the report notes.
Three health workers who received the AstraZeneca vaccine have been diagnosed with serious health problems in Norway. Following this, Denmark and Iceland have since stopped administering the vaccine. Additionally, in Austria, one death has been reported due to side effects. Ireland health minister Stephen Donnelly informed via Twitter that vaccination would resume once the problems are resolved.
"If the EMA comes back, as we hope they will, with a very positive report later in the week, then it will be a very short period to reschedule," he said, as reported by Irish Mirror.
