Person wields rod, attacks, injures 5 at Amritsar Golden Temple

Amritsar: Inside the premises of the Golden Temple in Amritsar, an unidentified person armed with a rod issued an attack, injuring five devotees on Friday. The condition of one of the victims is serious, The Indian Express reported.

The said victim is under treatment in the emergency wing of the Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Amritsar.

According to TIE, the police arrested the accused, but the person's identity is yet to be revealed. Police also arrested the accused’s aide. Police said that the second accused allegedly conducted a recce along with the one who attacked devotees. They added that the attack happened inside the oldest Guru Ram Das inn near the community kitchen.

Meanwhile, the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), which manages the supreme place of worship of the Sikh faith, stated that the attacker started his act against devotees out of the blue using the rod.\
