New Delhi: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has served a Rs 100 crore defamation notice on BJP MP Maneka Gandhi over her allegation against the organization, claiming that its gaushalas (cowsheds) sell cows to butchers, branding ISKCON as the 'biggest cheat in the country.'
ISKCON, outraged by the "completely unfounded" claims, has declared its intention to pursue justice against what they term as "defamatory, slanderous, and malicious accusations."
The global community of ISKCON devotees and supporters expressed deep distress over the allegations, vowing to leave "no stone unturned" in their quest to counter what they view as fallacious propaganda tarnishing their reputation.
Maneka, in a viral video, alleged that ISKCON not only engages in selling cows for slaughter but also benefits immensely from government resources through vast lands allotted to their Goushalas.
The MP claimed to have visited an ISKCON Gaushala in Andhra Pradesh, asserting that she found no cows in good condition and no calves, insinuating that all had been sold off.
ISKCON refuted these accusations, terming them "unsubstantiated and false." The controversy deepens as both parties prepare for a legal battle, with ISKCON determined to salvage its reputation against what they perceive as a baseless attack.
