Mumbai: Once the strongest ally in the Hindutva cause with the BJP, the Shiv Sena ridiculed the BJP's dual representation of two extreme causes.
Responding to the tour the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson had been taken to Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram, Sena's mouthpiece Saamana wrote in its editorial that at home the party supports Gandhi's killer Nathuram Godse's ideology and when foreign dignitaries visit the country they are taken to Gandhi.
Exposing the BJP's disguise, the Saamana further said it is Gandhi who is representing India on the global stage. The editorial questioned why didn't the UK PM Johnson was taken to the grand statue of Iron Man Sardar Patel in Gujarat.
"It's a wonder that they (BJP) support the ideology of Nathuram Godse but when foreign guests arrive, they take them to Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram to weave the yarn," it reads.
"During Johnson's stay in India, there was an atmosphere of communal tension throughout the country, including in the national capital Delhi. During the country's independence, there was an atmosphere of religious hatred and violence. Even after so many years, the Prime Minister of the UK is witnessing the same atmosphere in India. Johnson saw India in the same condition in which the British had left the country," the editorial stated.
