Kashmir: 'The Kashmir Files', the movies which depicts Kashmiri Pandits' exodus from the valley and the trauma they underwent, has wholeheartedly been welcomed in the BJP quarters as the film features the political narrative the party has been used in the elections.
But it has not been gone well in many, including some Pandits who keep a neutral stand and the former Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called the political scenario the film talks is incorrect.
However, he questioned the film on its several aspects, doubting the real intention of the makers for he felt it has been made to keep Pandits away from valley instead of creating a conducive atmosphere for Pandits' return to Kashmir.
In a report published in The Indian Express, Omar Abdullah said what he felt watching the film that the BJP wants to hide some truth, twisting the political scenario when the exodus began. He said contrary to the claim of the film, the exodus happened during Governor Raj and Jagmohan Sb was Governor (of J&K), when Farooq Abdullah was not the Chief Minister.
Besides, the BJP backed VP Singh government was in the power at the Centre during the first exodus, which Omar said has been found to be a deliberate attempt to stake the truth in the artistic annals.
Expressing deep regret over the killing of Kashmiri Pandits, which he said should not have happened, he further asked were there only Pandist killed not Kashmiri Muslims or Sikhs.
He added that members of all religious communities had to leave their homes. "Some Muslims and Sikhs also left their home and Kashmir and never came back, alongside the Pandits," he added.
