Noida reports just one new Covid case marking a sharp decline

Noida: From daily peaks of covid cases in the first week of December, Noida's Gautam Buddha Nagar has recorded just one new case for the first time this year, according to a report in India Today.

Diminishing cases largely bespeak the sharp decline in India's new covid cases reporting just 1,549. There were some 31 covid-related deaths too.

Earlier the third wave of covid particularly hit the district with cases daily climbing to greater peaks.

Health officials could heave a sigh of relief following the lone new case in last 24 hours in the district. The active cases in the area marked an all-time low with a sharp slide to 76.

The positivity rate on Sunday was less than 0.1 per cent, according to India Today.

The total infections in Gautam Buddh Nagar stands at 98,472 with 490 fatalities.

The health department have conducted 2,000,604 Covid-19 tests since the pandemic hit the area two years back.

However, the health department can't yet let down the guard as they are worried over a likely jump in infections in the coming days.

Given the higher public interaction in the area, their fears are not without basis. The Chief Medical Officer Sunil Sharma reportedly said that people move between Noida and cities like Delhi, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Meerut. The increased public interaction could lead to transmission of new cases.

Of the total 3,922,000 vaccinations in the district, 2,202,000 have received their first dose and 1,673,000 the second, according to the official.

As many as 47,000 people have taken booster doses; alongside this, 1,39,000 children aged between 15-18 have been vaccinated.

Also, UP government lifted all covid restrictions last week after the cases plummeted in the state.
