No face cover: Irfan Pathan's wife breaks silence on online trolls

Mumbai: Former Indian cricket all-rounder Irfan Pathan and his wife Safa Mirza were attacked by netizens with sharp criticisms and trolling online. This was after Safa appeared in public without covering her face, Siasat reported.

During their eighth wedding anniversary in February, Irfan shared their couple picture on Instagram, revealing Safa's face for the first time. However, this triggered massive criticism from a section of Instagram users expressing religious sentiments.

However, Safa gave her reply to the criticisms and trolls in her latest Instagram story, in an Ask Me Anything session, where she responded to queries from her followers.

It was recently she made her debut on the social media platform.

In response to a question about why she revealed her face, Safa said that there was no revelation since the face has always been there. She added that she still prefers her pictures not to be taken.

The user asked, "Why did you reveal your face? Just curious."

She replied, "Answering this 1 collectively. No 'Revelation' has happened. It's always been there. I still prefer not to get my pictures clicked if that's what you mean to ask. P.S – Curiosity killed the cat."

Safa Baig, a journalist and model before marriage, was born in Jeddah on February 28, 1994. She did her education at the International Indian School Jeddah and later worked as the executive editor in a PR firm and was even featured in various fashion magazines in the Gulf. She is also a renowned nail artist, it is learned.

Irfan and Safa met at a function in Dubai in 2014 and fell into a relationship. Both reportedly kept their affair private for around two years, and they got married in February 2016. Their intimate marriage, Nikkah, took place in Haram Shareef, Makkah, in Saudi. The event was attended only by close family members and relatives. They have two sons, Imran and Suleiman.
