New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting raids against sharpshooters, drug traffickers, hawala operators, real estate managers of Dawood Ibrahim, India Today reports.
The major crackdown on the fugitive gangster's D-Company will see raids in 20 locations including Bandra, Nagpada, Borivali, Goregaon, Parel, Santacruz in Mumbai.
NIA will reportedly be hot on the heels of the other key players in the criminal syndicate.
In February this year, the NIA registered a case holding the top leadership and operatives of D-Company responsible for terror activities, organized crime and acts for creating unrest in India.
The FIR invokes the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). And many of those involved in these crimes are reportedly based abroad.
The NIA is monitoring and probing the entire gamut of criminal and terrorist acts committed by members of the underworld network run by don Dawood Ibrahim from his safe haven in Karachi, Pakistan, the report said.
The Ministry of Home Affairs reportedly said NIA would probe the underworld don's henchmen -- Chhota Shakeel, Javed Chikna, Tiger Menon, Iqbal Mirchi, sister Haseena Parkar.
In 2003 India and USA designated Dawood Ibrahim a global terrorist carrying reward of US$25 million on his head for his alleged role in in the 1993 Bombay bombings.
The Pakistan government sanctioned Dawood Ibrahim and 87 others for terror-related activities to evade being put on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, according to India Today.
