Muslim man killed on suspicion of cow slaughter in UP’s Moradabad

Another killing in the name of cow slaughter has been reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad, where Shahid Din was brutally assaulted by a mob accusing him of trying to slaughter a stray calf. The police have registered a case against unidentified individuals, according to Siasat.com.

The incident occurred near Mandi Samiti Chowki, where Din and three companions were reportedly caught with a stray calf.

The mob, enraged by allegations of cow slaughter, apprehended Shahid Din while his companions managed to flee. The attackers reportedly used offensive language and beat him severely. A video circulating on social media shows Din grievously injured and lying motionless on the ground, bleeding profusely.


Despite being rushed to a district hospital in Meerut, Shahid Din succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, December 31. Police have since registered a murder case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code based on a complaint lodged by his relatives.

Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to identify the assailants. In addition to the murder case, a separate case has been registered against Shahid Din and his companions under charges of cow slaughter. The police have not disclosed further details regarding the ongoing investigations.

This tragic incident underscores the recurring issue of mob violence and the sensitive nature of allegations related to cow slaughter in the region.
