Munawar Faruqui is all set to perform in Kolkata on January 16. The stand-up comedian tweeted the poster of his two-hour comedy act 'Dhandho' together with a link to book tickets on Saturday evening. The tickets, priced at Rs 799, are filling fast, said online ticket booking platform BookMyShow.
Last month, in November, Faruqui's shows in Bengaluru were denied permission by the Bengaluru police owing to protests by Hindu right-wing outfits. The outfits alleged that he hurt Hindu sentiments in one of his shows. The show had sold over 600 tickets but was cancelled because of threats of venue vandalism, said Faruqui.
In the last two months, 12 of his shows were called off because of threats to venue and audiences, said Faruqui.
"My name is Munawar Faruqui. And that's been my time, you guys were (a) wonderful audience. Good bye, I'm done," he had tweeted.
Faruqui had spent a month in jail at Indore in January after a BJP MLA's son lodged an FIR against him, accusing the comedian of hurting religious sentiments.
