MP district administration demolishes homes of men accused of mob attack

Bhopal: The district administration of Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday razed down illegal properties belonging to some accused in a murder of a tribal man, reports NDTV. Days ago, a tribal man was beaten in the district, tied to a pick-up truck and dragged, leading to his death.

A NDTV report says that video footage recieved to the channel showed an earth-mover demolishing a single storey house. The husband of a village Sarpanch was reportedly among the people whose properties were destroyed.

On Thursday, Kanhaiyalal Bheel, aged 45, was beaten up badly alleging theft. He was tied around his feet with a rope and got dragged by a pick-up truck. The assaulters themselves had dialled the police helpline, claiming they had caught a thief. Police rushed Kanhaiyalal to a nearby health centre and later to the district hospital after he was referred. There he was declared dead.

Visuals of the tribal man getting beaten were widely shared on social media. One clip showed a man hitting the victim on the face though the latter begs to let him go.

Police have booked eight people in the case and arrested five. The accused have been charged with murder and other sections of the IPC and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities)Act.
