Nursing Day: Modi expresses gratitude to nursing community

New Delhi: On International Nurses Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to all nurses across the country, who are on the frontline fighting the Covid-19 pandemic for the nation.

PM Modi took to Twitter and wrote: "International Nurses Day is a day to express gratitude to the hardworking nursing staff, who is at the forefront of fighting COVID-19. Their sense of duty, compassion and commitment towards a healthy India is exemplary."

International Nurses Day is observed every year on May 12, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. The theme for this year's International Nurses Day is 'Nurses: A Voice to Lead - A Vision for Future Healthcare'.

Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan and other ministers also tweeted gratitude messages on International Nurses Day.  


Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala -the state which has the maximum number of registered nurses in India also took to Twitter to thank nurses across the globe.
