MiG-21 Jet crashes into a home in Rajasthan killing three people

Bikaner/New Delhi: An investigation has been ordered after a fighter aircraft crashed into a home in a Rajasthan village killing three people.

The Air Force MIG-21 Fighter aircraft reportedly developed a technical snag while it was on routine exercise, taking off from the Suratgarh airbase, NDTV reported.

The aircraft crashed into a home near Pilibanga area in Rajasthan's Hanumangarh, even as the pilot jumped out of the aircraft in just in time. The pilot is safe however he sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, police started a rescue operation in the area where the aircraft had crashed.

Authorities are yet to ascertain the cause of the accident and a probe has been initiated.

‘A MiG-21 aircraft of the IAF crashed near Suratgarh during a routine training sortie today morning. The pilot ejected safely, sustaining minor injuries. An inquiry has been constituted to ascertain the cause of the accident,’ it tweeted.

Om Prakash, Inspector General of Police, Bikaner reportedly said that the pilot made efforts to avert human causalities as the aircraft crash-landed in the village.
