Medal winners will get government jobs, says Bihar's new sports policy

Patna: Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav unveiled Bihar's innovative sports policy, promising direct government employment to athletes securing medals in competitions.

"Jo medal layega woh naukri payega (whoever brings a medal will get a job)," proclaimed Tejashwi Yadav during a sports event, emphasising the state's commitment to reward sporting achievements with employment opportunities.

Addressing the prevailing issue of unemployment, Yadav highlighted the scarcity of jobs, even for the educated populace. The new policy aims to bolster sports culture in the state while providing avenues for employment, asserted the Deputy Chief Minister, a key figure in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's administration.

Highlighting the implementation details, Yadav mentioned that 81 athletes had been handpicked for various officer-level positions such as Block Development Officer (BDO) and inspector. "We are not just offering jobs to these 81 sportspersons but elevating them to officer roles. They will imminently receive their appointment letters," he affirmed.

Despite advocating for sports recognition, Yadav emphasised the significance of education. He urged youngsters to focus on academics, suggesting that while he comes from a family with a political legacy, he chose honesty over securing a fake degree.

Encouraging a balanced lifestyle, Yadav urged children to step away from electronic devices and engage in physical activities, underscoring the need for playground activities.

Additionally, Yadav mentioned the government's initiative to recruit more than a lakh teachers in rural areas on a single day, aiming to enhance the quality of education across the region.
