Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee emphasized the teachings of Muharram, highlighting its message of not compromising with injustice, and urged people to pursue peace and prosperity.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Banerjee said, "Holy Muharram teaches not to compromise with injustice. Let us all move forward on the path of peace and prosperity."
Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, holds significant importance for the Muslim community as it marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, in the Battle of Karbala. The Chief Minister's call for peace and justice resonates with the spirit of Muharram, which advocates standing firm against oppression.
