Leela hotel cheat who faked as UAE royalty arrested

New Delhi: The Delhi Police arrested the man who had sneaked out of Leela Palace Hotel running up a huge bill after staying for four months.

The accused, identified as Mohammed Sharif ( 41), left behind a bill of 23 lakh out of Rs 35 lakh he incurred, paying Rs 11.5 lakh.

He allegedly stole silverware a mother-of-pearl tray from the hotel room, India Today reported.

Sharif, who checked in the 5-star hotel posing as an employee of Abu Dhabi royal family, is facing charges of fraud and theft.

He was arrested on January 19 from Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka.

Sharif stayed in room number 427 from August 1 to November 20 last year claiming to be personally working with Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a member of the royal family of Abu Dhabi.

The FIR said Sharif checked into the hotel with a fake business card, a UAE resident card, along with other government documents.
