Ghaziabad: A 16-year-old boy died in a freak explosion in which part of a house was destroyed in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad.
Omendra was killed when an LED TV, mounted on the wall, went off destroying a portion of the wall and the concrete slabs.
His mother, sister-in-law and a friend who were in the room when the explosion had taken place, also got injured,according to NDTV.
A critically injured Omendra died in the hospital, while his mother and friend are getting care.
The explosion was so powerful that it shook the house and jolted the neighbours who thought a cooking gas cylinder exploded.
Omendra suffered fatal shrapnel injuries after tiny projectiles hit him on the face, chest and neck, the police said.
His neighbour Vinita reportedly said she thought a cylinder exploded and saw smoke coming out of the house.
Monica who is a relative of Omendra's said she was in another room at the time of explosion.
She added that the explosion was so powerful that the entire house shook and parts of the wall collapsed.
Ghaziabad police officer Gyanendra Singh told reporters that initial investigation showed the LED TV mounted on the wall exploded killing one person, injuring three others.
