KTR criticizes Congress over anti-defection law proposal

KT Rama Rao, a prominent leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has called out the Congress party for what he perceives as hypocrisy in its approach towards anti-defection laws, particularly in the context of Telangana.

In a pointed remark aimed at Rahul Gandhi and the Congress, KTR questioned the sincerity of the party's stance on anti-defection measures as outlined in its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He urged Rahul Gandhi not to act hypocritically in his political endeavors.

Demanding transparency from the Congress regarding their activities in Telangana, KTR challenged the party to uphold the promises made in their manifesto, specifically regarding anti-defection assurances.

Highlighting the apparent disparity, KTR questioned whether the Congress's commitment to anti-defection applies in Telangana, especially given their welcoming of BRS MLAs into their fold while allowing them to retain their positions.

He pointed out that the Congress's allocation of the Secunderabad MP seat to Danam Nagender, an elected BRS MLA in Telangana, raises questions about the party's consistency.

Despite welcoming the Congress's proposal to amend the 10th schedule for automatic disqualification of defectors, KTR emphasized the importance of concrete actions aligning with stated principles.

He urged Rahul Gandhi to ensure that defectors resign or face disqualification, thereby demonstrating the party's commitment to ethical political conduct.

Emphasizing the significance of political integrity and consistency, KTR called on all parties to uphold democratic principles and transparency in their actions.
