Thiruvananthapuram: Two Youth Congress workers were arrested on Wednesday after showing a black flag to the cavalcade of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Police said they are charged with offences of obstructing traffic and violating orders of a government official.
They were released on station bail after the VIP movement. The incident occurred when the CM was going to EMS Academy at Vilappilsala.
Congress MLA Shafi Parambil said in a Facebook post that they will protest against the Chief Minister despite the security arrangements in view of the prevailing alleged emergency-like situations in Kerala.
The black flag was reportedly in protest against the arrest of Congress leader K S Sabarinadhan a day ago for allegedly conspiring for the aircraft protest against the Chief Minister. He also received bail on the same day.
The brawl incident took place on board an IndiGo flight on June 13 and two Youth Congress workers were arrested in an attempt to murder and for 'plotting' the protest against CM Vijayan. It triggered a row between the ruling Left and Congress in Kerala.
The airline has imposed a flying ban on LDF Convener EP Jayarajan and two Youth Congress workers. A Kerala court on Wednesday ordered the police to file a case against all three involved in the fight.
