Chennithala accuses Kerala CMO of leaking women’s data from Stree Suraksha

Kochi: Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala on Friday accused the Chief Minister's Office of leaking personal details of over one crore Keralites, including lakhs of women under the Stree Suraksha scheme, to a Mumbai-based private agency for election purposes.

Speaking to reporters, he called it a grave "data theft" unprecedented in state history, with no precautions taken.

Chennithala said a CMO officer on special duty (OSD) sought the women’s details via a February 7 letter, following a similar request for government employees' and pensioners' data to tout achievements. He warned such leaks could spark cybercrimes and fraud, demanding a probe, and equated CM access with CPI(M) control.

The allegation follows his Wednesday claim of a "major breach of data privacy" in employee data collection, branding it a huge political controversy.
