Kejriwal preaching in Hyderabad mosque? What is the truth?

Gandhinagar: Rightwing Hindutva activists are now circulating a picture of Kejriwal on social media. The picture features Kejriwal praying in a mosque donning a cap and shawl worn by Muslims. The caption says, "Did you see Kejriwal preaching in a mosque when he came to Hyderabad?"

The picture is kind of a response to Kejriwal's statement that pictures of Hindu goddesses should be included in Indian currencies. The post suggests that he changed plates when he reached Hyderabad.

But the fact is the picture was from an Iftar event in a mosque in Punjab in 2016. It is being used to mislead people. The original caption of the picture suggests that Kejriwal was participating in an Iftar ceremony with the faithful at a mosque in Malerkotla, Sangrur, Patiala, Punjab.

Ever since the Gujarat assembly elections were declared, political parties have been campaigning in the state. The biggest threat to the ruling BJP is the Aam Aadmi Party. AAP, which has announced that it will contest all the seats, is running strong campaign programs in Gujarat. Arvind Kejriwal, the president of AP and the Chief Minister of Delhi, also makes Hindutva statements that could compete with BJP. His statement that pictures of Hindu goddesses should be included in Indian currencies had invited a big controversy.
