New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is seemingly working to form a ragtag alliance against the BJP ahead of next Lok Sabha polls.
KCR as he is fondly called met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday, giving rise to the idea of a third front.
During the meeting, KCR who has been open for a third front, called for a "BJP-mukt Bharat", altering BJP's slogan of "Congress-mukt Bharat"
Telangana leader purportedly visited Bihar to hand in cheques of Rs 10 lakh each to relatives of five soldiers died in a clash with Chinese troops at Galwan Valley in 2020.
KCR's visit in the wake of Nitish Kumar's split with the NDA earned political importance and dimension.
Later at a press conference in the presence of Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav, KCR attacked the Centre for price rise, inflation and unemployment.
Further he called for driving the BJP out of power in whatever means possible.
Aside from the show of solidarity against the BJP, a hint at potential discord amid " third front" came out during the press conference when the question of potential leader against BJP was asked.
About Nitish Kumar becoming a potential challenger to Narendra Modi in 2024, KCR said it will be decided when all opposition parties sit together.
Nitish Kumar seemingly annoyed at when asked about a joint opposition prime ministerial candidate; during the press meet he got up to leave just 50 minutes into it. KCR's Bihar visit was sixth its kind tour to meet leaders of regional parties.
As part of his campaign to form a force against BJP, KCR previously met JMM Chief Shibu Soren and his son and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, the Shiv Sena's Uddhav Thackeray, Tamil Nadu CM and DMK leader MK Stalin, and West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee.
KCR also met with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann of Punjab, among others.
