New Delhi: Ahead of the Telangana Assembly polls next week, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday issued an advisory to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, in connection with an alleged hate speech on October 30, urging him to follow the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
ECI received a complaint from NSUI Telangana president Balmoori Venkat Narsing Rao alleging that the Chief Minister had made “derogatory and provoking comments” while addressing a rally in Banswada constituency on October 30.
The advisory was published by the poll panel on its website on Saturday.
The EC also issued a show-cause notice to Bharat Rashtra Samithi star campaigner and Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao for violating the MCC. The EC said it had received a complaint from Congress MP Randeep Surjewala.
Campaigning for the November 30 polls ends in the evening of November 28.
