Karnataka Muslim vendor and others to open literary event

Hubballi (Karnataka): Nothing escapes the all-encompassing hands of literature.

8 th May Sahitya Mela in the state is sending the same message as the organisers have picked up six working class people to inaugurate it.

A Muslim vendor, Nabisaab Killedar is one of them, as part of voicing the people's issues. 

About 1,000 delegates will take part in the programme on May 27 and 28 in Davanagere city here, according to IANS 

Nabisaab Killedar is a watermelon vendor whose shop near the Nuggikeri temple in Dharwad was vandalized by the Hindu activists last month.

He was a victim of the campaign against Muslim vendors running shops in the temple premises.

The photos and videos of the shop getting attacked went viral on social media.

Police had arrested Sri Rama Sena activists in connection with the incident.

Nabisaab Killedar is invited with an aim to promote communal harmony in the state.

Other working class people to participate alongside him include a beedi worker, a construction worker, a farmer and environment activists.

Justice K. Chandru, a retired Judge from the Madras High Court is delivering the key-note address.

Veteran agrarian journalist P. Sainath will speak on 'Rural India Crisis'.

Sudheendra Kulkarni, former strategist for L.K. Advani, will expand on 'Diversity and Oppressive Violence'.

The event will reportedly dwell on what country has gained and lost in the last seven decades of Independence.

The constitutional crisis and the federal aspirations will also be discussed, the report said quoting an organiser
