Bengaluru: A man in Karnataka allegedly strangled his 20-year-old daughter to death in a suspected case of dishonour killing, NDTV reported.
Krishnamurti, a resident of Bangarpet in Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), previously tried to talk his daughter Kirti out of her plan to marry the 24-year-old Gangadhar of another caste, police reportedly said.
Krishnamurti forced his daughter to end the relationship again on Tuesday morning when a fifth started between them.
In a fit of fury, Krishnamurti strangled Kirti to death and hung her body from a fan to pass off as suicide, according to the report.
The police suspected Kirti had been murdered and began interrogating Krishnamurti, before arresting him.
An inconsolable Gangadhar, a mason by trade, went to the nearby railway tracks and jumped in front of a moving train, killing himself.
‘Krishnamurti has been arrested for murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code,’ KGF Superintendent of Police K Dharni Devi reportedly said.
