Karnataka HC issues notice to Yediyurappa in corruption case

A single-judge bench of Justice S Sunil Dutt Yadav of the Karnataka HC on Monday issued a notice to former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in connection with alleged corruption in a housing project launched by the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA). Notices have also been issued to Yediyurappa's son and BJP state Vice President BY Vijayendra, former ministers ST Somashekhar and others.

Though activist TJ Abraham had approached a special court earlier, they dismissed the case for want of a sanction to prosecute as Yediyurappa was Chief Minister and Somashekhar a minister. Abraham then approached the high court, seeking inquiry. The allegations raised include receiving kickbacks from a contractor of the housing project.

The notice comes as Yediyurappa is trying to get cabinet positions for Vijayendra and his followers after losing his position as Chief Minister of the state.
