Bengaluru : Another controversy is in the making in the state, as the government is all set to revise school texts books, in some cases, deleting ' sensitive' chapters glorifying Tipu Sultan.

The government appears to be overly confrontational despite reeling from the controversies over hijab and ban Muslim traders.
The text book revising committee, headed by the right wing thinker Rohith Chakrathirtha, submitted to the government its report seeking the revision, according to IANS. The government is learnt to go ahead with the changes in the school textbooks.
Earlier a controversial lesson for class 6 students wanted students to learn that other religions came into existence because of drawback of Vaidika ( Hindu) religion.
The committee has now revised texts for class 6 to 10. Earlier the Opposition called out the appointment of Rohith Charathirtha, saying that it is to " saffronise" education.
Sources say that text books will come with lessons on the Ahom dynasty( which rule Northeast India for 600 years), Karkota dynasty( which ruled many India) and there will be lesson on Kashmir history too. There is also a lesson on the controversial Baba Budangiri and Dattapeeth.
The lessons on Kashmir and Bababudangiri as well as Dattapeeth are more likely to create controversies, the report said. While retaining lessons on Tipu Sultan, as that is part of studying history, the segments glorifying him have been deleted.
The committee was set up in 2017 to study the aspects that hurt Hindu sentiments in Social Science Part 1 and other sensitive matters till Class 10
Accepting the revised syllabus, the government has reportedly permission for publication of these books for the academic year 2022-23.
B.C. Nagesh, Minister for Education, acknowledging the receipt of the report, said that more details would be given later.
