Jaipur officials issue fact check after Congress alleges voter list manipulation

New Delhi: The Jaipur District Collector and Magistrate has issued a fact check after a video circulated on social media alleging arbitrary deletion of names from the voter list during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Jhotwara.

The viral clip showed residents accusing a Booth Level Officer (BLO) of failing to distribute enumeration forms door-to-door and threatening to strike off names. One man claimed his family’s names were removed despite their attempts to submit forms directly.

Responding on social media platform X, the Collector clarified that the process of filling out enumeration forms will continue until 4 December 2025. Officials noted that some residents were absent during two BLO visits, with a third visit still pending. Those found at home will be provided forms to complete.

The Collector further explained that any additions or deletions in the draft voter list, due for release on 9 December 2025, will only occur after the Electoral Registration Officer issues notices and provides an opportunity to be heard between 9 December 2025 and 8 January 2026. Voters also retain the option to submit forms online.

On 18 November, the Congress party shared the video, alleging manipulation of the voter list and claiming people were being unlawfully targeted. The party described the removal of names as an attack on constitutional rights and vowed to resist such actions.
