New Delhi: The Jahangirpuri violence arrestee, 30-year-old Sheikh Hasan alias Chora, was arrested by the Delhi police seven times in the last eight years, IANS reported.
According to IANS, the news agency, it had obtained a dossier of the accused, which states that Hasan is illiterate and used to work as a labourer. He fell into bad company and started committing crimes in order to make money.
Hassan started his criminal trajectory in March 2011 with a mobile phone snatching case. He was arrested on the spot. Despite being arrested multiple times, Hassan continued to commit crimes. The crimes he was arrested for include theft, robbery, forgery, assault, and Arms Act.
Before Jahangirpuri, he was arrested in August 2021 under sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act, and an investigation on the case lay pending.
Hassan, who has eight brothers and three sisters, has a bad character in the area and was under continuous police surveillance.
Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana had subjected him to intense interrogation for hours on Friday afternoon, along with all the other accused who have been arrested regarding the Jahangirpuri case. Official information is that Hasan is brother to another arrestee, Salim alias Chikna, who has been accused in the Jahangirpuri case.
In the Jahangirpuri violence, eight police personnel and a local were injured.
