Intense rains, flash floods, landslides cause destruction in Manipur

Manipur is suffering severe damage and disruption as a result of the heavy rains that have fallen during the last 24 hours.

Flash floods, waterlogging, and landslides have been recorded in several low-lying and hill districts, according to PTI.

According to the news agency, Yaingangpokpi, Santikhongbal, and Sabungkhok Khunou in Imphal East have been flooded. Imphal West's Kakwa and Sagolband are also inundated. Houses and residential complexes have become submerged, TNIE reported.

Landslides were reported in Awangkhul (Noney district), Senapati, and Kamjong. Major rivers Imphal, Nambul, and Iril have seen considerable rises in water levels, albeit they are still far below dangerous levels.

Most regions of the northeastern state have seen moderate to heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, with more expected on Sunday.
