India will be a developed nation in 2047: PM Modi

Bhuj: India will become a developed nation in 2047, the year which marks 100 years of Independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised.

Speaking at Gujarat's Kutch on Sunday, PM said, "After the devastating 2001 earthquake, I had assured to develop the district and in 2022, see how well it has developed. Today I am promising to make India a developed country by 2047 and will surely do it," IANS reported.

Earlier on Sunday, Modi had dedicated 'Smriti Van' in Bhuj and' Veer Balak Smarak' in Anjar in memory of those who lost lives in the deadly earthquakes in Bhuj. He claimed that the two memorials would place Kutch on the world map, like the Hiroshima museum in Japan.

According to him, when the quakes hit Kutch, he was in Delhi but rushed to the spot the very next day. Gujarat was the first state to introduce Disaster Management Act, he stated, adding that other States of the nation got inspired by it.

On Sunday morning, he laid the foundation for fresh projects here, to the national projects worth Rs 5,000 crore dedicating them.

He said that the Sarhad Dairy was started in the state when he was the chief minister. When it was 1,400 litres of milk connection and got increased to 5 lakh litres per day and producers makes Rs 800 crore, contributing milk in the diary, PM stated.

Modi further released stats that Kutch got 45 new colleges, 1,000 new schools, 250 hospitals, and thousands of check dams in the last 20 years. Also, countries first earthquake-resistant hospital, he said.

Later, he thanked all his old friends from Kutch who had contributed to its development.
