Hyderabad: On a complaint of molestation of a foreign female student, a professor of the Central University of Hyderabad (HCU) was arrested by the Cyberabad Police here.

The professor allegedly invited the student to his residence, which nearby the campus, and abused her on Friday night, The Hindustan Times reported.

The student alleged in her complaint that the professor was alone at his house when she reached there. He offered her alcohol and attempted to take advantage of the situation.

Police have charged the professor with Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police informed that the student speaks only Thai, and they are looking for a translator to help with the probe.

In the meantime, students of the university gathered at the main gate of the campus to protest over the incident, demanding safety for female students. Students' Union alleged that the university administration ignored its calls.
