New Delhi: After the horrible incident of Hindu women being killed in Pakistan, the BJP-led Union government issued a quite ironic statement calling on Pakistan that it should protect its minorities, Asian News International reported.
The statement gains importance as the government kept only a blind eye towards atrocities against minorities, and reports teeming with incidents based on the same make headlines in India.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a weekly media briefing that the government had received reports on the killing of the Pak woman, though specific details were yet to arrive. New Delhi reiterated that Pakistan must protect its minorities. It must secure their safety, security and well-being since it is the country's responsibility, Bagchi said.
The brutal murder of the woman, Daya Bheel, incited outrage in Pakistan's Sindh province. She was a 40-year-old widow, and her dead body was mutilated, Krishna Kumari, Senator of Pakistan Peoples Party from Tharparkar Sindh, said in a tweet.
A news organisation reported that the media nor politicians nor the Sindh government wouldn't highlight the woman's murder. It asked if the police would catch the culprits and whether Hindus would be treated as equal citizens in their motherland.
Activists opine that human rights in Pakistan fell to the lowest, citing the dire situation of women, minorities, children and journalists. Forced conversions of girls from minorities are rampant in Sindh and are becoming a common scene in the country.
