Ahmedabad: Recently, a Hindu spiritual leader in Gujarat said that 75 per cent of government school teachers are Christians, and they are involved in forceful conversions. A school teacher had given him an ‘anonymous’ letter complaining about Christian teachers involved in conversions, the spiritual leader also claimed. Following this, state education minister Praful Pansheriya said that similar complaints would be compiled and appropriate action would be taken, The Indian Express reported.
The minister made the statement after the spiritual leader, Morari Bapu, who is also a Ram Kathakar- a narrator- said that he had handed over the mentioned complaint by the teacher to the education minister.
Morari Bapu claimed in his speech during his Kathas held in Tapi district’s Songadh on March 13-14 that teaching students the Bhagavad Gita is good, but Christian teachers do not allow this to happen. They take salaries from the government and convert people, he claimed.
He claimed that the teacher who gave him the letter complained that Christian teachers were forcibly converting students in tribal areas and forcing them into superstitions.
He claimed that the entire tribal belt in the state used to follow Shabari Mata and perform her puja, but in the past 40 years, the majority of tribals have been Christians. The Christian teachers are stopping students from learning the Bhagavad Gita, which had been made mandatory by the state government.
Meanwhile, BJP’s lone Christian MLA, Mohan Kokni, do not agree with Morari Bapu’s communal claims. He said that those claims have zero basis, and they have not encountered any complaints or allegations as Bapu claimed. He demanded that Bapu must come with proof first.
