Hate speech against Muslims, insulted women: RSS leader booked

Mangaluru/Karnataka: Police said they have registered a case against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and the organisers of a Deepotsava event held in Uppalige, following a complaint from a resident of Puttur taluk here, PTI reported.

According to a release from Puttur Rural Police on Sunday, the complaint alleged that Bhat's speech, aired on the 'Kahale News' YouTube channel, incited "religious hatred, insulted women's dignity, and threatened public peace." The event was held on October 20.

It further alleged that Bhat made derogatory remarks about Hindu and Muslim communities and referred to voter numbers, thereby fostering religious discord.

The case, registered on October 25 under crime no 118/2025, invokes relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on promoting enmity, insulting religious beliefs, and disturbing public tranquillity.

It was only around a week ago that Union minister Giriraj Singh once again courted controversy by making a scathing remark against the Muslim community, saying that he doesn't need the votes of 'namak haraams' (betrayers), PTI reported.

He made the remark while addressing a public rally in Bihar's Arwal district on Saturday.

The BJP MP from Begusarai said, "Once I asked a 'maulvi' (cleric) whether he had Ayushman Bharat health card and he replied in the affirmative. I asked whether such cards were distributed on the basis of Hindu-Muslim, and he replied in the negative."

"When I asked him whether he had voted for me, he replied in the affirmative, but when I asked him to swear on Khuda (God), he said no, he didn't. Muslims take the benefits of all central schemes but don't vote for us... Such people are called 'namak haraam'. I told maulvi sahab that I don't want votes of 'namak haraams'," the minister said without any hesitation.
