Hardline Hindutva speakers booked in Karnataka's Udipi days after fiery speech

Udupi: Police in Karnataka's Udupi district charged hard core Hindutva activists for making speeches promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion.

Television journalist Shrikant Shetty and Kajal Ben Shingala aka Kajal Hindustani, who is a hardline Hindutva activist from Gujarat, are facing the First Information Report (FIR) ten days after their fiery speech at the Durga Daud programme held in Udupi on October 2.

More than 10,000 people showed up at the Durga Daud programme organized by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike in Udupi with a few of the attendees brandishing swords, according to The News Minute.

Udupi based television journalist Shrikant Shetty told the gathering to worship weapons exhorting to have a weapon in every Hindu household.

Shetty went on with the fiery speech urging Hindus in the next Ayudha pooja not to worship cycles, mixers or grinders, but worship weapons.

Shrikant was quoted calling for the gathering to cultivate the mindset to use weapons, adding this is the aim of Hindu Jagarana Vedike.
