GN Saibaba seeks parole to take part in funeral of his mother

Mumbai: Delhi University Professor GN Saibaba has approached Bombay High Court seeking parole to take part in the funeral activities of his mother. He submitted the plea before Nagpur bench of the high court. The court asked Maharashtra government to give its response within a week on the parole.

Saibaba's mother passed away on 1st August at Hyderabad. The jail authorities had refused a parole application of the academician to visit his ailing mother before her death. They also turned down his request for parole to take part in the funeral.

The wheelchair-bound professor, who is 90 percent disabled, was denied the chance to meet his beloved mother before she breathed her last through video-conferencing.

Saibaba, along with five others, was imposed with charges of Maoist links and war against the country and was sentenced to life-imprisonment.
