Fourth encounter in three days erupts in Jammu and Kashmir

A fresh encounter erupted today in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, marking the fourth such incident in the Union Territory within the last three days.

This encounter is also the second to occur in the Doda region of the Jammu division since yesterday.

A soldier was reported injured during the skirmish.

On June 9, terrorists launched an attack on pilgrims in Reasi, resulting in the deaths of nine people. Just yesterday, security forces engaged with terrorists in the Kathua region.

According to a senior police officer, a group of three to four terrorists was detected in the higher reaches of Doda. A search operation is currently underway to neutralize them, despite the challenging terrain.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday night, five soldiers from the Rashtriya Rifles and a special police officer (SPO) were injured when terrorists attacked a joint checkpost in the upper reaches of Chattergalla on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road in Doda.

Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range, Shridhar Patil, informed reporters that intelligence reports had indicated terrorist movement in the area. Consequently, temporary posts jointly manned by the army and police were established in the higher reaches, along with checkpoints on the interstate road to monitor and counter terrorist activity.
