EV owners in Delhi now have a WhatsApp Chatbot to answer questions

The Delhi transport department has launched a WhatsApp chatbot to ensure that EV owners always have assistance. It is one of the many steps taken by the Aam Aadmi Party to promote the use of electric vehicles in the city.

That bot can answer all possible queries people have on EVs.

Delhi Transport Commissioner Ashish Kundra shared the news on Twitter and wrote: "Delhi government has launched a WhatsApp chatbot for electric vehicles. Find your nearest charging station, know more about electric mobility, models, etc. Send a 'hello' at 98103 36008". He added, "let's collectively @SwitchDelhi".

When a user sends a 'hi' to the given number, the chatbot first asks for the preferred language of communication, and then lists five options: Potential savings while switching to EV (EV Calculator), Find the right EV for yourself (EV Search), Charging Stations, EV Pledge, and Frequently asked questions (FAQs).

The bot reached out to random people on Sunday and the recipients have responded with emails to the government.

Speaking to PTI, the Commissioner said the goal is to inform youngsters about e-cycle schemes available in the national capital.

He said the government wants to cater to the EV community and help them find the nearest charging stations. The bot is also to help those who are looking to buy EVs but don't know which models to choose from or what the range is.

Kundra further said the AAP government collaborated with WhatsApp for the initiative because the messaging platform has its own commitment to promoting green mobility. "So, they (WhatsApp) supported the initiative".
