Hoshiarpur (Punjab): A close relative of legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh asked Delhi CM Arvind Kerjriwal to fight "his fights politically" rather than comparing "criminals" with martyrs.
Harbhajan Singh Dhath was annoyed after Kejriwal had said deputy CM Manish Sisodia and minister Satyendar Jain—the former is facing probe in excise policy case and while the latter is in jail— were today's Bhagat Singh.
Dhath also asked Kejriwal to "concentrate" on the "miserable" condition of Punjab, where the Aam Aadmi Party came in power earlier this year with a thumping majority, according to ANI.
Alongside calling both his party men today's Bhagat Singh, Kejriwal on Sunday said jail bars and hanging noose could not deter Bhagat Singh's resolute intentions.
Talking to ANI Harbhajan Singh Dhath came down heavily on Kejriwal asking why criminals caught in corruption cases being compared with martyrs.
What political mileage the Delhi CM was expecting from it, he asked adding that martyrs should not be drawn in for comparison, not just Bhagat Singh but other freedom fighter as well.
He said that Bhagat Singh had no mission to be in power, or else he would not have been hanged.
The freedom fighter's relative asked Kejriwal no to "equate anybody" with him.
Urging Kejriwal to follow Bhagat Singh's vision, he said nothing could be more shameful than comparing Satyendar Jain with Bhagat Singh, who is lodged for months in jail and court is denying him bail.
Calling the condition of Punjab " miserable", he warned Kejriwal that people who voted Am Aadmi Party to power can remove them from it.
Kejriwal compared his party men to the freedom fighter after the CBI issued summons to his deputy CM Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case.
